About
Ky Phan is a co owner of the Crab Hut Restaurants and Kingfisher. She was born in Vietnam and later immigrated to Houston. Texas. Ky and her older sister Kim, learned to love eating boiled seafood with family and friends during their time spent in Texas. It became a family tradition at the Phan household even after they have moved to California. As a child Ky
grew up working at her parent’s small mom and pop’s restaurant, learning everything, from washing dishes, peeling carrots, to serving customers. In 2007 she with her older sister and now brother in law, opened their first Crab Hut restaurant on Convoy Street. They became the first Cajun boiled seafood restaurant in San Diego, 15 years later they currently have 3 locations. Kingfisher a Vietnamese Southeast Asian restaurant and bar opened in 2022 is a passion project for the family. The restaurant was featured as a Michelin New Discovery, Bốn Apetite’s Top 50 New Restaurants in America, Eater’s Restaurant of the Year and other accolades during its first year of opening.
