Dr. Alicia Lorraine Gwynn, wife of baseball great and Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn, is no stranger to community building, philanthropy and empower-ment. She maintains a robust portfolio with posts as President/CEO of Gwynndustries, Inc., a full-service management company, President/CEO for Gwynn Foods, a catering and retail products company, President/CEO for Gwynn Sports, a marketing and merchandising company, and President of the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation, a charity organization dedicated to bettering the lives of disadvantaged youth. Dr. Gwynn holds a Ph. D. in Education and a Master’s degree in Human Resources with emphasis in Marriage and Family. She also holds a Master’s degree in Counseling. A certified Anger Management counselor, Alicia is certified in The Ellison Inclusive Community Building Model. Her book, The Creed of Life: Practical Principles of Character Building has been used by the San Diego State University Multicultural Center for graduate student programs, and has recently been used by the Kidz4Kidz International Youth Conference serving hundreds of youth across the U.S. and the Caribbean Islands.

As part of the success of Gwynn Foods, Dr. Gwynn has created her own recipes such as bar-b-que sauces, mustard relish sauces, flavor booster, and a batter for frying all types of meats. Both the sauces and batter are sold in the frozens goods department at many retail stores, and is used by food service places.

In 1997, Dr. Gwynn was recognized as a Woman Who Means Business Honoree presented by the San Diego Business Journal. She was also honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Philanthropy Council for her philanthropic achievements, and is a recipient of the prestigious Child Help USA for the Love of a Child Award. In 2008, she was featured on the cover of bizSanDiego Magazine as one of the top 20 most powerful women who are making a difference in our community. In 2009, she was finalist for one of the most influential women in San Diego featured in the San Diego Magazine, and in the same year, Dr. Gwynn, along with her husband, Tony, received the 2009 Anthousa Award by The Philoptochos Society of San Diego for their philanthropic service. Dr. Gwynn was one of the 2009 finalists in Women Who Move the City for the San Diego Magazine. She was honored in 2010 for the National Council of Negro Women Community Service Award, and in 2012, she received the Caregiver of the Year Award by the University of California San Diego. Most recently, in November 2016, the San Diego Business Journal bestowed upon Dr. Alicia Gwynn the honor of the Women Who Means Business Community Service Award.

Currently, Dr. Gwynn serves on the Board of Directors for San Diego North County Regional Chamber, in which she is former Chairperson for the Chamber’s Education Foundation. Dr. Gwynn has two children Tony, Jr., a Sports Broadcaster for the San Diego Padres and Anisha Nicole, an accomplished music artist. Dr. Gwynn resides in Poway, California.
