The 15h Annual San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival introduces a selection of hands on classes and culinary experiences led by some of the country’s’ top authors, experts and chefs, including: celebrity authors Laura Werlin and Michael Ruhlman.

Golden State Cheese + Wine Adventure

James Beard Award Winning celebrity author and national cheese ambassador, Laura Werlin partners with Gina Freize, founder and owner of Venissimo Cheese, for a trip down California’s Cheese Trail on Friday, November 16. During the class, Golden State Cheese + Wine Adventure, take a trip down California’s Cheese Trail for a tasting of what is truly a golden state cheese. Each will present their favorites from as far north as Arcata to down south in Pomona. Where there’s cheese, there is also wine, Cuvaison Winery in the Los Carneros region is sharing and comparing their acclaimed Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.

Also on Friday, November 16 at Born & Raised, one of today’s most prolific culinary authors, Michael Ruhlman joins Chef Jason McLeod of CH Projects to guide through the craft of pâté and charcuterie, featuring wines from Groth Vineyards & Winery.

 

You may know Michael Ruhlman for his celebrated books such as The Should of a Chef (2000) and The Reach  of a Chef (2006). Ruhlman has also collaborated with Chef Thomas Keller to produce the cookbooks The French Laundry Cookbook (1999), Bouchon (2004), Under Pressure (2008), Ad Hoc at Home (2009), and Bouchon Bakery (2012);with French Chef Eric Ripert and Colombian artist Valentino Cortazar to produce the lavish coffee-table book A Return to Cooking (2002); and with Michigan chef Brian Polcyn to produce Charcuterie: The Craft of Salting, Smoking and Curing (2005) and Salumi: The Craft of Italian Dry Curing (2012). In 2009 Ruhlman also collaborated with fellow Clevelander and Iron Chef Michael Symon on Symon’s first cookbook Live to Cook.

Golden State Cheese + Wine Adventure is held on Friday, November 16 at Studio Kitchen by Speciality Produce from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $50 and are available here.

 

Pâté and Charcuterie featuring Celebrated Author Michael Ruhlman at Born & Raised is held on Friday, November 16 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $95 and are available here.
