SeaCo Catch Takes Both People's + Judges' Choice Awards at Ninth Annual Taco TKO Presented by Hornitos Tequila
History was made during the finale of the 17th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival® at Taco TKO Presented by Hornitos Tequila! The annual taco competition was rocked by SeaCo Catch, who received both the Judges’ and the People’s Choice awards, a festival first.
With an unstoppable plant-based, organic, gluten-free, fÿsh taco and 371 votes, SeaCo Catch took home first place, winning the title of San Diego’s Most Awesome Taco and a $500 prize.
“We are so incredibly grateful to have been sought out and invited to participate in this year’s competition and to win both Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice is overwhelming,” says Chef Mike Perez, at SeaCo Catch. “Our team has been working on this product for four years now. Our vegan fÿsh taco has won five awards since 2019, and we look forward to continue sharing our story and our tacos with California.”
Second place for the Judges’ Choice went to returning Taco TKO Winner, Sand Bar Sports & Grill and third place was awarded to Death by Tequila. Runner ups for People’s Choice included SandBar Sports Bar & Grill in second place and Coco Maya by Miss B’s and Small Town tied for third.
In addition to a fierce competition, the event featured a variety of unique beers, spirits, and tequila stations accompanied by live music from Bulevar Descarga.
