Andrew Quady, aka The Muscat King, is a Muscat pioneer. His Essensia (1980) and Elysium (1983) are iconic California wines sold over the world. Starboard Batch 88, first made in 1988, makes a strong statement for California port. In 1990 he introduced his popular Electra, a 4.5% alcohol “moscato”, followed by Red Electra, a delicious sweet red.
In 1997, he turned his attention to vermouth. In 1999 after two years development effort, Vya appeared. Vya Vermouth, in both dry and sweet styles, expanded the aperitif wine category in the U.S. 2012 marked the release of a third vermouth: Vya Whisper Dry. Vya Whisper Dry employs an especially light handed approach to botanicals and was created for mixing with delicately flavored spirits.
