Food Writer / TV Host

Troy is an award-winning food writer, TV host and humorist. His memoir Family Outing was published by famed publisher Richard Seaver and Arcade Publishing in 2008. Troy parlayed a poetry degree into a 10-year gig as a successful rock journalist (Billboard, Spin, etc.). He wrote and hosted an Emmy-winning, TV show about indie rock, including live performances from The Buzzcocks, TV on the Radio and Peaches (plus Maroon Five’s TV debut). Then he saw Jesus in a short rib in 2007 and dedicated himself to writing about food. By 2010 his food writing won the highest journalism awards in Southern California, and Food Network tapped him to write and host the travel series, Crave. Troy also hosted Food Network’s one-hour special Best Thing on Sliced Bread, and has appeared on Iron Chef America and Best Thing I Ever Ate. Currently, he is the restaurant critic for San Diego Magazine, anchor judge on Food Network’s prime-time series, Guy’s Grocery Games with Guy Fieri, and cohosts the new series on Big Ten Network, Campus Eats, a travelogue documenting the best restaurants in the Big Ten school towns.
